Prepare for different win outcomes

A lot will change in America regardless of who wins the 2024 Presidential Election — but those changes vary drastically. Take some time to reflect on what the two possible outcomes mean for our country.

If Harris Wins:

  1. Conservatives will likely lie about election fraud: In the four years since the January 6th insurrection, Trump has convinced a majority of Republicans to believe any victory over him is illegitimate.

  2. Valued Democratic leaders in CA may leave to work in D.C.: VP Harris was previously the Attorney General of California and one of the state’s two U.S. Senators. Her network there is vast, and she would inevitably ask some of those folks to join her team at the White House.

  3. Passing progressive policy will be difficult without full control of Congress: Democrats may win the White House, but that doesn’t guarantee control of the House of Representatives or Senate.

If Trump Wins:

  1. Conservative hate will increase online and in-person: From his Muslim ban to his embrace of birtherism, Trump has a long-documented history of bigotry that emboldens his supporters.

  2. Essential government agencies and programs will no longer exist and/or be rendered ineffective: Trump has stated that the Department of Education should be shut down. He has also said he’d put Robert F Kennedy Jr. in charge of public health, a man who is famously anti-vax.

  3. Some Republicans will switch parties to avoid the MAGA stigma: Parties have done it since the dawn of politics — switching labels is the easiest way to separate yourself from embarrassing leaders.
